“The group of people we can call permanent guests is constantly growing. I have no qualms in calling many of them good friends”, says Andrzej Gąsienica Daniel, who along with his family runs the Helan Hotel in the Pardałówka section of Zakopane. “They confirm that they come here for the proximity to the mountains, the calm, and the delicious regional cuisine, but above all for the family atmosphere. We want them to feel even greater comfort and happiness when they stay with us. This is why in 2018 we should complete the construction of the recreational facility with the indoor pool, therapy rooms, saunas, and the interesting newly-equipped play area for children”, he adds.

The hotel had its beginnings five years ago, the family’s second enterprise after their “u Daniela” pensione. It takes its name ‘Helan’ from the first names of the owners, that is, Andrzej’s parents Helena and Andrzej senior. One of its best characteristics was its location – less than 2 kilometers from the bottom end of the ski lift to the highest ski slope in Poland – Kasprowy Wierch – in a quiet, peaceful part of Zakopane close to the Olympic training facility for Polish athletes. Additionally, the hotel is surrounded by a spacious garden. Nor is it far from the heart of Zakopane – the famous Krupówki pedestrian mall.

The hotel’s exterior design draws from the traditional regional architecture. There are 45 rooms from single occupancy to deluxe two-room suites which can accommodate four persons, especially for families. All rooms have balconies with views of either the Tatras or of Gubałówka. Helan also offers a conference room for up to 100 persons, an elegant banquet hall, a fireplace room decorated in regional style, a playroom for children, a sun terrace, and an extensive garden with a grilling area and parking spaces.

The hotel restaurant is Helena’s exclusive domain. She is the one who makes sure that guests get a taste of seasonal mountain specialties, with goat cheese, potato pancakes [Pol. moskole] and sauerkraut soup [Pol. kwaśnica] at the forefront. Without a doubt, Andrzej Jr.’s sporting career – he’s one of Poland’s foremost snowboarders – is one of the hotel’s attractions. He married Karolina a few years ago, and she comes from the Słowakiewicz family of hockey players from Nowy Targ. “Karolina joined us in managing the family business. She takes care of the VIP groups and business clients. Together we make sure that the hotel takes the best possible care of families with children. Now, we have our own two-year-old, Marysia, so we understand their needs 100 percent”, – Andrzej Jr. explains.

The hotel is furnished with a specially equipped playroom for children, a rubber ball pool, a mini cinema, and a playground in the garden. In the rooms parents will find special step-stools, humidifiers, baby chairs, and other larger and smaller items designed to facilitate care for the youngest guests. Beyond this there is a ski lift next to the hotel. This is where Andrzej Jr. offers snowboarding lessons to both younger and older guests. Hotel powstał pięć lat temu drugi obok pensjonat „ u Daniela” obiekt rodziny. Helan nazwę otrzymał od imion właścicieli, czyli rodziców pana Andrzeja – Heleny i Andrzeja seniora. Jego atutem było położenie – nieco ponad 2 km od dolnej stacji kolei linowej na najwyższą w Polsce narciarską górę, czyli na Kasprowy Wierch, w cichej i spokojnej okolicy Zakopanego, blisko ośrodka przygotowań olimpijskich polskich sportowców. W dodatku hotel otoczony jest przestronnym ogrodem. Niedaleko stamtąd jest też do serca Zakopanego, czyli słynnego deptaku na Krupówkach.

Bryła hotelu nawiązuje do tradycyjnej regionalnej architektury. We wnętrzu znajduje się 45 pokoi od jednoosobowych po dwupokojowe studia o wysokim standardzie dla czterech osób, zwłaszcza dla rodzin. Kilka lat temu ożenił się z Karoliną, która z kolei pochodzi z rodziny Słowakiewiczów, nowotarskich hokeistów. – Karolina włączyła się w prowadzenie naszego rodzinnego biznesu.
