Only a short drive from the centre of Kraków, will bring the visitor to the Kraków Valleys (Dolinki Krakowskie). Located to the west of the city, they are of great natural beauty and part of the Polish Jurassic Highland (Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska), created as a result of the erosion of the limestone rocks by what today are small streams.
Cracovians love visiting the valleys that include Bolechowicka, Kobylańska and Będkowska, because walking beneath the impressive limestone cliffs is a wonderful experience, especially in the spring. There are numerous waterfalls, as well as religious buildings, including the Carmelite monastery in Czerna, and the neoclassical mansion in Modlnica, which today belongs to the Jagiellonian University, and was built in its present form in the late eighteenth century. There is also a fish farm in Będkowska Valley, where the trout bred there can be tasted in the restaurant.
The valleys are protected through being officially termed a landscaped park and they cover approximately 20,000 hectares. A number of reserves were created to further protect rare plants as well as particularly interesting rocks or caves, for instance, Wierzchowska Cave in Kluczwody Valley, whose corridors are about a kilometre in length, is without doubt worth visiting.
In April, these valleys become green once again and the leaves of the trees look their best. Therefore, this is the perfect time to visit and many consider cycling the perfect way to absorb their atmosphere. (b)

Urok Dolinek Krakowskich

Aby dotrzeć w to miejsce wystarczy nawet kilkunastominutowa podróż samochodem z centrum Krakowa. Dolinki Krakowskie to przyrodnicze perełki położone na zachód od miasta. Należą do Jury Krakowsko-Częstochowskiej. W wapiennych skałach wyżłobiły je niewielkie dzisiaj strumienie.

W dolinie Będkowskiej można znaleźć także gospodarstwo rybackie, gdzie goście mogą skosztować pysznego pstrąga.
Dolinki mają status parku krajobrazowego, który zajmuje ok. 20 tysięcy hektarów. Na jego terenie dodatkowo utworzono rezerwaty chroniące rzadką roślinność ale także szczególnie ciekawe skały czy jaskinie. Warto odwiedzić np. Jaskinię Wierzchowską w Dolinie Kluczwody, której korytarze maja ok kilometra długości.
W kwietniu Dolinki Krakowskie zielenią się, intensywnie kwitną tam drzewa. To idealna pora by wybrać się tam na wycieczkę rowerową.

Um an diesen Ort zu gelangen, genügt schon eine 10- bis 20-minütige Fahrt aus dem Zentrum von Krakau. Die kleinen Kalkfelsen-Täler, westlich von Krakau gelegen, sind Perlen der Natur. Sie gehören zum Kraków-Częstochowa-Jura. Die Kalkfelsen wurden durch heute schon kleinere Bäche ausgehöhlt.
