During the second concert of the cycle „From Bach’s cantatas to Moniuszko’s songs”, you will hear a selection of salon Romantic music. The nineteenth century was a time when the solo song with piano accompaniment flourished, written to texts by the greatest poets of the time, such as Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Frederick Schiller, Victor Hugo, Adam Mickiewicz, Juliusz Słowacki, and Cyprian Kamil Norwid. „In the Romantic salon” you’ll hear songs from F. Mendelssohn’s op. 6 and from the cycle ‚Frauenliebe und -leben’, op. 42 by R. Schumann. Moreover, the participants of the concert will be able to listen to early Romantic instrumental miniatures for oboe and piano by C.A.P. Braun and J. Widerkehr – composers whose names rarely appear in the concert repertoire. The programme will be performed by the young mezzo-soprano Katarzyna Kucia accompanied by an original instrument from the epoch – a table piano from 1834 (Anna Huszczo) and a copy of a Grundmann/Floth eight-key oboe from around 1805 (Katarzyna Pilipiuk).
