The ceremonial opening of the semester programme specifically designed for the University of Guelph, Canada took place in the Libraria Collegium Maius UJ on Monday, 11th September, 2017. The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector of the Jagiellonian University, prof. dr hab. Armen Edigarian. The programme, which is organised every two years, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year – since 1992, there have been more than 300 Canadian participants. In the current semester, which will last until December, students learn Polish, as well as study the history, art, literature, and political issues of Central and Eastern Europe. In addition, they will discover Kraków and its surroundings, as well as other European countries, taking full advantage of the fact that they are staying in the centre of Europe. When the semester ends, the participants always emphasize that it has been an extraordinary experience: not only do they study hard but they also learn about the Poles, and their culture and customs. It helps them to gain a better understanding of the world.

W poniedziałek 11 września 2017 w Librarii Collegium Maius UJ odbyło się uroczyste otwarcie semestralnego programu przygotowanego dla University of Guelph z Kanady. W spotkaniu uczestniczył prorektor UJ prof. dr hab. Armen Edigarian. Program ten, organizowany co dwa lata, obchodzi w tym roku 25-lecie: od 1992 roku uczestniczyło w nim już ponad 300 Kanadyjczyków. W obecnym semestrze, który potrwa do grudnia, studenci uczą się języka polskiego, historii, sztuki, literatury, studiują zagadnienia z zakresu polityki w Europie Centralnej i Wschodniej. Ponadto poznają Kraków i okolice, a także – korzystając z faktu, że przez kilka miesięcy mieszkają w centrum Europy – intensywnie zwiedzają kraje naszego kontynentu. Kiedy semestr się kończy, jego uczestnicy zawsze podkreślają, że jest to dla nich niezwykłe doświadczenie: nie tylko dużo się uczą, ale też poznają ludzi, kulturę, zwyczaje. Bardzo im to pomaga otwierać się na świat.
