An interview with Agnieszka Jakimów, Director of Sales for Kraków’s four-star hotels in the Orbis chain.
• The opening last year of the Mercure Kraków Old Town hotel, which belongs to the Orbis Hotel Group, led to the creation of a new sales department, of which you are the manager. It deals with selling accommodation in this new luxury hotel and another already well-established hotel in the city, the Novotel Kraków Centrum. How important is this new sales department?
• It is the result of the development of the potential of the group in Kraków. And this summer season, it has been expanded to include one more hotel, the Novotel Kraków City West. All the three hotels are four-star hotels. Working initially with only the two hotels showed clearly how important sales coordination is and how much it facilitates the fast and comprehensive handling of questions and queries. The customer received almost instant information on the two hotels, for example, the availability and prices, without having to make individual enquiries in the case of each hotel. Therefore, it was only logical to extend the department by including another four-star hotel. Also our team has many years of experience in the sales offices of our hotels, with each employee in chargé of a different section, for example, Bożena Rzerzycha coordinates large scale enquiries, Joanna Domagała looks after tourist groups, Katarzyna Łabęda is responsible for the corporate segment and Mateusz Mrozicki focuses on MICE.
• Three four-star hotels in Kraków. A prospective customer might wish to know more.
• We offer hotels that are ideally located in this beautiful city. The Mercure Kraków Old Town is opposite the main railway station, from where the airport can be reached in a quarter of an hour. On foot it takes five minutes to go from the Mercure to St Florian’s Gate, and to the Main Market Square only ten. The hotel has unique interiors, a modern conference centre and the Winestone restaurant, where delicious food is served together with wines from around the world.
The Novotel Kraków Centrum is located next to the Vistula Boulevards. We have recently added a suite with a 150 sq. m terrace, which has the most wonderful view of the nearby Wawel Royal Castle, and sometimes even the Tatras. It can also serve as a small, modern venue for conferences with personalized service or alternatively where a family of up to six can have the perfect break. The hotel guests can relax after a full day of either work or sightseeing in a wellness centre with a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and fitness room. It is worth mentioning that the hotel is next to an Ibis hotel and together they form one of the largest hotel complexes in the city (373 rooms).
And finally, the Novotel Kraków City West… It provides guests with the comfort of spacious rooms of 30 sq. m. There is also a welcoming bar, a library, a children’s area, a swimming pool, a sauna and a garden.

Jakie znaczenie ma istnienie tej struktury?
• Jest ona efektem rozwoju potencjału grupy w Krakowie. W obecnym sezonie letnim włączony został do niej dodatkowo Novotel Kraków City West. Proszę zwrócić uwagę że wszystkie te trzy hotele mają standard czterogwiazdkowy. Już etap naszej pracy z dwoma hotelami pokazał jak duże znaczenie ma koordynacja sprzedaży, jak ułatwia szybką oraz kompleksową obsługę zapytań. Klient otrzymywał niemal natychmiast informację na temat hoteli, ich dostępności i cen bez konieczności wysyłania zapytania do każdego z nich. Dlatego też naturalnym było podjęcie decyzji o rozszerzeniu tej struktury o kolejny hotel czterogwiazdkowy.
