An interview with Piotr Włosiński, CEO of POLSKIE TATRY SA.
• What is the position of the company you manage on the Zakopane tourist market?
• Luckily, the market is large enough for everyone. However, our central, and indeed unique, assets are decisive in establishing the firm and stable position of POLSKIE TATRY SA. Above all, our guest houses and hotels have a long tradition and, thus, a large number of regular guests and contractors. In addition, our facilities are located very close to the mountains and provide breath-taking views of the Tatras. Our guests, regardless whether they are individuals, groups or businesses, are offered the ideal conditions for both rest and relaxation, with all their specific needs catered for.
• Talking about the proximity of the mountains… One of your guest house complexes is located at the entrance to the beautiful Dolina Białego (the White Valley).
• Indeed, we have two guest houses there, Biały Potok and Telimena, both of which are ideal for families, but which also have conference rooms that are very popular with small business groups. Next door is the early twentieth century Pan Tadeusz villa which is remarkably popular due to its beautiful original interiors. There is also a regional inn offering the most popular dishes of Podhale, produced exclusively from regional products – this is an added bonus.
• But you also own a very modern facility, namely the Aqua Park in ul. Jagiellońska.
• This is the only facility of its kind in Zakopane and as it is supplied with geothermal waters, Aqua Park Zakopane offers many attractions. Inside, there are three swimming pools, as well as pools with hydro-massage jets, a ‘wild river’ and five water slides with a total length of over 300 metres. The building has saunas, a fitness club, a bowling alley, a restaurant and a playroom for children from 3 to 12 years of age that is equipped with interactive games – these are valued by the parents because they are not the usual games but instead develop the children’s skills. An outdoor swimming pool from which a scenic view of the Tatras can be admired while in the water is an excellent alternative to the swimming pool hall. In the vicinity of Aqua Park there is the Antałówka Guesthouse complex – two modern conference facilities, which also serve as family guest houses. The quiet, peaceful environment and the beauty of the natural surroundings are the main selling point of the Antałówka Guesthouses.
• Yet, Zakopane is mainly a skiing destination in winter.
• Although all our guest houses and hotels are very close to the ski runs, it has to be admitted that the Mountain Inn Kuźnice is perfectly located as it is next to the lower cable-car station to Kasprowy Wierch. There are 14 rooms and these are usually chosen by those who want to be as close to the Tatra Mountains as possible, in both the winter and the summer.
• We are only talking about Zakopane, but you have a hotel outside the town too.
• I deliberately left it to the end of our conversation because it is a true gem. The Hotel Tatry *** on Polana Zgorzelisko has the highest elevation of all the hotels in Poland (1,105 m). Additionally, it has an interesting history as it was built in the 1970s and was intended exclusively for the dignitaries of communist times. It has since been renovated, but the original furnishings remain as does the style of the old days, both of which are appreciated by the guests as its unique atmosphere has been retained. The hotel, surrounded by a 7 hectare garden, is about a quarter of an hour’s drive from Zakopane. In addition, it is located next to the upper station of the Male Ciche Ski Resort. Not surprisingly, Polana Zgorzelisko has numerous regular, even devoted, guests, who visit not only for the reasons previously mentioned, but above all for the amazing and unforgettable view of the Tatras. • Jak ocenia Pan pozycję kierowanej przez Pana firmy na zakopiańskim rynku turystycznym?
• Jest on bardzo pojemny i każdy znajdzie w nim swoje miejsce. Trwałą pozycję Spółki POLSKIE TATRY wyznacza kilka naszych bardzo istotnych, a zarazem unikalnych atutów. Przede wszystkim nasze pensjonaty i hotele mają długoletnią tradycję, a co za tym idzie duże grono stałych klientów i kontrahentów. W dodatku nasze obiekty zlokalizowane są bardzo blisko gór, oraz zapewniają znakomite widoki na panoramę Tatr.
