传说,有一位国王克拉科(Krak)的孙女儿、旺达的女儿,斯拉夫的公主——扎岗娜 (Zaganna)在Bobr河边建立了以她名字而命名的扎岗( Zagan)定居。

Żagań

Żagań lies on the rivers of Bóbr and Czerna in western Poland, right by the German border. The town is only 1.5 hours away by car from Berlin.
Legend has it that Slavic princess Żaganna, daughter of Wanda and granddaughter of king Krak, started a town on river Bóbr that was named after her. That town was Żagań. The monuments of the town’s turbulent history attract many tourists who find numerous attractions and accommodation options on local ground. The area has plenty to offer to the visitors. Historical churches, the Dukes’ Palace (the famous social and political salon of the Congress of Vienna), a spectator tower, fortified walls, a charming market square with beautiful tenement houses are only a few of Żagań’s most notable sightseeing spots. Nature lovers will find enchanting parks, tourist and educational trails that are ideal for hiking and cycling escapades. Tourism is flourishing in Żagań owing to the variety of historical monuments, rich cultural heritage and beautiful nature. The town actively promotes its attractions at domestic and international trade fairs. Żagań has benefited immensely from European Union grants that have been acquired in the amount of nearly EUR 17 million. Projects co-financed from EU funds include a modern sports and recreational center with a swimming pool, a sports hall, a stadium, tennis courts and a hotel. The Dukes’ Palace is undergoing renovation to become the largest conference center in this part of Europe. Rapid changes are under way to make Żagań a place of growing beauty. The town makes the most of its assets and the arising opportunities. During World War II, Żagań was the site of the famous mass escape attempt from the prisoner camp. In 1963, the event was adapted into the famous film, The Great Escape, directed by John Struges.
Żagań is making successful attempts to portray the image of a dynamic and a fast growing town. The town’s convenient location and a well-developed transport network contribute to those efforts. Above all, Żagań is a town of enterprising and hard working people who have an open approach to the world. These assets spur economic growth and attract prospective investors to this town with a population of 30,000. Żagań is definitely a place worth visiting both for business and recreational purposes.
Żagań’s strengths have already been recognized by foreign investors, among them WÜRTH, who chose the town as the seat of their business operations.
